I hadn't used stumbleupon in a while, but was lucky that this was the first thing that came up when I logged in.

100,000 Stars

This is a perfect application of visual communication.  When else but now could we possibly have such an intuitive understanding of how vast the universe is?  It's also interesting to consider the idea of traveling all the way down to the level of quarks and bosons.  I have seen other visualizers displaying the universe in this scale, but I have never seen one as cool to look at as this one.

The interface somehow makes traveling hundred's of millions of lightyears as simple as scrolling through your favorite social media timeline.  Neato.
