Powerful photos from Kiev
I was impressed with this photoset from the Protests in Kiev. Such a sticky political situation. Documentation like this helps humanize the conflict.

911 is not a joke anymore.
Here's the deal.
I am already willing to give you that this movie won't be amazing.
I'll give you that we will think that it "could have been better" and will immediately compare it to other movies that somehow "pulled it off" better.
It's February release is not a good sign, nor is it's PG13 rating.
But come on, I would be a fool to say I didn't really want to see Robocop and think I will enjoy just about 100% of it.
The visuals alone will be enough to make me want to take in every detail (even though amazing looking films are the norm these days). The pool of actors, ranging from Gary Oldman to Samuel L Jackson (looking like he is playing his ideal type of role) to Michael Keaton, provide enough foundation for well executed exchanges between characters to occur. I even imagine it is going to have at least a pseudo-concious "message" in the story of a "Robotic US Military technology that is currently deployed overseas will one day be turned against it's own citizens".
Plus the ED209 just looks ridiculous.

American Hustle
As a friend on facebook wrote: American Hustle felt like it hustled me out of 9 dollars.
I happen to agree.
The acting was overall pretty solid, although I found Bale hard to laugh at, and I think this movie was supposed to be funny-ish. I kept waiting for him to start busting someone's face in like Batman would. At many times in the movie I felt confused about what the character's motivations were. That was either a genius component of the film being about con artists, or sloppy writing. Overall, I felt it was the latter.
Also, Amy Adam's outfits were distracted. Too much of that "midboob" thing happening. I mean, look at the picture above, she was like that for like 90% of the movie.
It was an enjoyable enough experience. The soundtrack was good, although it seemed repetitive. I feel they did a good job making the film seem like the 70s, ultimately I just think the movie didn't know exactly what it wanted to be.
3/5

The Psychology of Color
This was cool to look at. Now I have all day to ponder the implications of the entire interior of my house being painted a dull orange "adobe" color.

100,000 Stars
I hadn't used stumbleupon in a while, but was lucky that this was the first thing that came up when I logged in.
100,000 Stars
This is a perfect application of visual communication. When else but now could we possibly have such an intuitive understanding of how vast the universe is? It's also interesting to consider the idea of traveling all the way down to the level of quarks and bosons. I have seen other visualizers displaying the universe in this scale, but I have never seen one as cool to look at as this one.
The interface somehow makes traveling hundred's of millions of lightyears as simple as scrolling through your favorite social media timeline. Neato.
You may need chrome to view it properly.

Data nerd level: inflight trackers
I love data. Pure, clean, often times useless data. There is something about it that gets me all giddy, giddy like a mathletic school child.
Needless to say I had more fun than I should with the inflight tracker provided (free) from Southwest Airlines. I am sure other airlines offer this service, but it's a bonus that the bus with wings does so, for free.
This frees me from attempting pointless calculations on how fast we are traveling, how far we have traveled, and looking at the map on the napkin and guessing where we are in proximity to famous landmarks.

Wednesday playlist: Quantic
I highly recommend listening to Quantic when you are working, or doing anything else for that matter.

Tarl.com
If you happen to be looking to buy or sell a home in Houston Texas, in particular the inner loop, you should check out Tarl Anderson Properties . Of course we are a little partial seeing as that we built his website for him, but the fact remains that he is a great guy to work with.
